MASSOC UPDATEEEEEEE :)

Hi guys! As you know, the World Food Festival was held last Saturday, on the 23rd of November. Thank you for those who came to support us! The food was sold out! EVERYTHING! People even bought the sambal!

First, we would like to thank Sheffield Malaysian Students Association (SMSA) for their collaboration with us for this BIG event, for without them, we wouldn’t have been able to carry out such big tasks!
Also, a big thank you to the committee involved! We’re proud to say that the event was a hit! Though we did not win, a special CONGRATULATIONS to the Sri Lankan Society for bagging two awards, Best Decoration and Best Overall! Three years in a ROW! Isn’t that amazing!

SMSA!

Thank you again to those who came to show their support! You never know, we might just cook again 😉

Malaysian Open House: ‘Multiculture at Its Best!’

Hello everyone. Warm greetings from MASSOC and we hope all is well. We would like to invite everyone to the first collaboration between Malaysian and Singaporean Society (MASSOC) and Sheffield Malaysian Students Association (SMSA) for this term!

Presenting Malaysian open house which can also be known as ‘Jamuan Makan’ aims to promote Malaysian culture through a few of home-cooked delicacies prepared by our lovely students. If you’re craving for some home-cooked food, this is definitely a chance not to be missed!

As it is a Jamuan Makan, it is open to public but limited to 150 pax, 75 persons from SMSA and MASSOC respectively. We are charging a small fee of £5 for member and £6 for non-member, do present your membership card when purchasing. It is definitely a good opportunity not only to mingle with freshers and seniors but also an awesome one to diversify your social circle. At the same time promote our culture to other people!

Attendees are encouraged to attend in traditional costume, be it Malay, Chinese, Indian or even Bumiputera. Best dressed male and female are also entitled to win away some reaaaaaaally cool prizes!

We highly recommend our members to take part in this event. As it was stated before we are limiting places to 150 people from both societies so do secure your place asap. Our 75 tickets will be on sale from 12/11 onwards, please check the schedule below.

Venue: Croft House, Garden St Sheffield, South Yorkshire S1 4BJ (map attached)
Date: 16/11/2013, Saturday
Time: entry starts at 6.30pm; food serving from 7.00pm till 10.00pm

Annual Dinner and Dance 2013

The prestigious dinner and dance event is an annual tradition for most if not all societies. In a first ever collaborative effort,MASSOC and the Singapore Society hoped to end the year with a bang!

A classy 3-course fine-dining at Mercure Hotel was set up, with well-planned performances for everyone’s enjoyment and also lucky draw prizes were held.

The theme of this year’s dinner was a sovereign one — “Modern Monarchy”. Everyone was expected to dress up in a royal manner, as how it was stated, ‘Just think royal ;)’

After the big event, the afterparty continued! It was held at the BRAND NEW Genting Club, right here, in Sheffield! An exclusive appearance by DJ VENDLUS, a famous DJ was made during the afterparty.

Overall, it is definitely safe to say that the event was a major success! We hope everyone who came enjoyed both the dinner and the afterparty. 🙂

Till then, we will see you at our next event. STAY TUNED! 🙂

International Cultural Evening 2013

International Cultural Evening is one of University of Sheffield’s biggest event of the year. A team from every country-representing society dazzles the audience with the beauty of the culture of their country.

MASSOC, although did not manage to win the Best Performance award, turned into ‘Sheilas’ and beautiful angels dancing on stage.

We thank the beautiful and handsome dancers who sacrificed so much of their time and sweat to come up with an outstanding performance.

Congratulations to the winning team, the Romanian Society! 🙂
