Teaser #3

This is our final teaser for the upcoming Dinner and Dance 2013 😉

We will reveal the theme pretty soon now~ (looking at all the teasers we’ve released, perhaps you can guess the theme now? 😉 )
So ladies… get ready for massive shopping, menicure, pedicure… etc etc
and gentlemen… be your very best and grab a date!

This prestigious event is held every year by MASSOC as part of our society’s tradition. It also marks the official stepping down of outgoing committee and the installation of the new committee. There will be 3-course meal fine-dining, lucky draw, performances etc… In short, you can call it MASSOC’s annual society prom!

However, this year will be a special one as we are collaborating with the Singapore Society for the very first time. Therefore, the expected turn-out will be more than last year’s and the afterparty will be even more amazing!

So KEEP A LOOK-OUT as we release the MAIN event poster and don’t forget to mark the official Dinner and Dance 2013 date in your calendar (in RED… BOLD… and underlined TWICE!)

MASSOC presents to you… the first ever Tele-Match!

This is probably the last event under the current MASSOC Committee, so we want all of you to come and participate in this tele-match!

Participation fee is only 1 pound!

1 pound for lots of fun + memorable time with friends + excitement + good time to release stress etc… WHY NOT? 😀

For more info, about venue, games etc, click the picture above to go to the event page 🙂

Ladies and Gentlemen…

The time has come… for the committee to pass on their legacy to their successors…

Our AGM is finally approaching!

By now, all of you MASSOC members should have already received an email from our MASSOC regarding the details on nominations, stages of election and the committee positions available.

If you are a MASSOC member and have not received the abovesaid email, please leave a comment here or send an email to or just contact one of the committee 🙂 We will be glad to help!

This is perhaps your chance to get fully involved in MASSOC, and to decide how you want the future MASSOC to be. If you think you have the potential, and are enthusiastic in organizing or being part of a societal team, don’t be shy to nominate yourself too! Details on nominations is included in the abovesaid email 🙂

We look forward to seeing all of your lovely faces!

p.s. Only those with MASSOC membership cards are eligible to vote. If you don’t have one, or have lost yours, please contact the committee for a replacement.

CNY Dinner 2013

It was Chinese New Year again and although far away from home, you could still sense the excitement and anticipation in the city of Sheffield. Castle Market, grocery stores and oriental shops were full of people buying food and drinks for the respective dinners they were going to have to celebrate this festival.

This year, MASSOC headed to Orient Express on West Street for our Chinese New Year dinner. It was a good time for seniors and juniors to mingle, get to know each other and spend time together. Freshers who were spending their first Chinese New Year away from home could have dinner with the ‘family’ they’ve made in Sheffield while meeting more new friends.

The ladies in their New Year clothes 😉

All 58 people arrived by 8.00pm and by 8.30pm, everyone was sat down and dinner was being served. Each table had 8 dishes from roast duck to steamed fish and even deep fried squid. The restaurant quickly fell into a hush as everyone stopped talking and started eating; food has always been that important to us. There was also a halal table which meant the Muslim members of MASSOC could join in the festivities.

A restaurant full of MASSOC-ians 🙂

Yummy food!

As the night wore on, some stayed on to continue catching up on how things have been while some others left for home. All in all, it was a simple Chinese New Year dinner but when spent with good friends, it made for a great night; one that continues to remind us of how fortunate we are to have such a ‘family’ with us in Sheffield.
